What originally attracted you to work at Elopak?
I started my career in the packaging industry in Tetra Pak, before moving on to Amcor. I had no plans to join Elopak but was attracted by the potential to shape my role, stay close to customers and develop my own team. I also saw an opportunity to develop my skills further in a senior role at a sustainable company, covering a range of different new markets that were not so well known to me.
What have you learned since joining Elopak?
On top of learning about all the technology behind the business, which is really interesting, I have been learning how to better interact within and between teams, and also across locations in order to achieve our common goals.
What was your first impression when starting at Elopak?
Throughout my career I have always approached new challenges by being open-minded, curious, and willing to acquire new knowledge and skills. When I started at Elopak three years ago, I quickly found great value in our strong, collaborative and empowering culture. At Elopak, you are surrounded by a friendly bunch of people. It is a dynamic environment, where you can have a lot of autonomy and make an impact. We have an open culture, and it’s easy to reach out to colleagues to collaborate and ask questions.
Are there things you are especially proud of having done at Elopak, and why?
Last year, I engaged with our customer García Carrión’s sustainability and marketing department to support the introduction of Elopak’s newly developed Pure-Pak® eSense carton to consumers in the Spanish market. With the help of an external agency specializing in connected package experiences, we together developed an interactive campaign. As I’m really proud of the new Elopak achievement – an aseptic package without aluminum, it was important to me to make sure that the messages about its benefits reached the end consumers and make them understand how, by buying products in that package, they are making a choice that contributes to the health of the planet.
What’s the best thing about working here?
It is clearly felt that sustainability is at the core of Elopak’s business. For me it is important to truly believe in what I do and to be able to proudly stand behind my words and actions. Sustainability is not a fad or a catchphrase, it comes with a sense of responsibility, and urgency at the same time. Feeling that you’re a part of a company culture whose values are in alignment with your own helps you believe in the path you’ve chosen and be convinced and convincing in your discourse towards the customers and the consumers, while being in peace and at ease with yourself.
